From Mei Mei to Me Me

This is the ongoing saga of my crazy life post-China adoption #2. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll need a Valium. I know I do.

That Explains a Few Things September 15, 2009

Everyone keeps asking me why it took so long to get our baby. Well – it appears the mystery has finally been solved. It turns out there’s been a bit of a scam going on. Miss Beckett Mei-Li is not what she appears to be after all. On the surface, a mild mannered baby (granted of questionably Asian descent) but beneath that, a cunning con artist – a grifter of the highest calibre – a charlatan.

As it turns out Beckett isn’t a baby at all. She’s a 64-year old grandmother who’s been conning adoptive parents out of pyjamas and diapers for years. Apprehended by the Hunan police in 1978, again in 1984 and, though she artfully evaded capture for over two decades, locked up again in 2007. Skilled in the art of disguise and deception, she’s known in some circles as Round-Eye Monkey while others know her simply as ‘Little Sneaky’.  Whatever her handle, her reputation is one of pure trouble.

Ahh – what the heck. We’ll take her anyway…

(I think the waiting is making me a little koo-koo). Thanks to Marcus for the fine Photoshop work. I nearly peed in my pants when I saw it. It sure is good to laugh after all the stress!
